Malongane Soup Kitchen

May 16, 2020

For a village based solely on tourism, the effects of COVID-19 have been devastating.
The Malongane Community Association has setup a soup kitchen and any donations would be most welcomed. Mar Azul has made a donation to this cause on behalf of the owners and will continue to monitor and assist where possible. Should you wish to contribute please follow this link:

Covid-19 Lockdown

April 21, 2020

At present Mar Azul is still open to guests who live in Mozambique.
We are not sure how much longer this will last… South Africa is currently in a full lock down (not allowed to leave your home) and all borders are closed so our little village has been deathly quiet over what would normally be one of our busiest periods (Easter school holidays).
The next few months are going to be incredibly difficult for our local community and we ask that once life returns to some type of ‘normality’ that you support and buy local.

Between Christmas and New Year we had both a Loggerhead and a Leatherback nest in front of Mar Azul.

What an amazing site witnessed by a few visitors.
